New anonymous hotline launched to report COVID fraud

The charity Crimestoppers has launched a new hotline for the public to report behaviour which has taken advantage of government schemes relating to COVID-19.

The government has set up over 150 COVID schemes, including grants and loans to support businesses through the pandemic, which some have abused in claiming precious funds they have not been entitled to.

Crimestoppers is encouraging anyone who suspects fraud of this kind to report it anonymously by ringing 0800 587 5030 or visiting covidfraudhotline.org. Your identity will be protected, and you will be playing an important part in protecting the public purse.

The information that Crimestoppers collect will be securely passed onto the Cabinet Offices COVID Fraud Response team for further action.
