Working in and out of different networks can expose systems to cyber attack. Here are some useful tips to help ensure secure home and remote working:
1. Consider written staff guides on software that may need to be implemented to support remote working.
2. Setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows remote users to securely access your organisation’s IT resources. If your organisation is already using a VPN, make sure it is fully patched. There may be a need for additional licenses, capacity or bandwidth if your organisation has a limited number of remote users.
3. Something regularly overlooked is removable media. USB drives often contain sensitive information and can be easily misplaced. When inserted into your IT systems they can introduce malware. Ensure all antivirus software is up to date and ensure any information on removable media is backed up.
