The UK government has introduced a new Bill into parliament, which will require manufacturers and distributors of smart devices to ensure that they are more resilient to cyber attacks.

Proposed by the government over a year ago, the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill (PSTI) is set to introduce a regulatory scheme for internet-connected devices to be more reliable and safer against potential cyber attacks.

Manufacturers and distributors that fail to produce safe devices would be breaking the law and could face criminal and civil penalties as a result.

Additionally, the law seeks to make the UK more connected by introducing higher broadband speeds through fibre networks and wireless connectivity in remote areas.
