According to research from Scams.info, the food and hospitality industry is the most cyber secure industry in the UK.
Data from the 2022 Cyber Security Breaches Survey showed that the hospitality industry saw 5,176 cyber security breaches in the past year, accounting for just 0.44% of all breaches.
This was 60 times fewer breaches than the IT sector, which faced 320,060 breaches, making it the most attacked industry in the report.
Online security breaches are often a result of human error through falling for phishing scams, downloading malware, or failing to keep security software up to date.
A successful breach can allow hackers to steal personal and financial information and wreak havoc on online systems, which can be costly for businesses to restore.
To avoid cyber breaches, businesses can take steps to keep their confidential data safe, such as using strong passwords, training staff on cyber security, and implementing Multi-FactorAuthentication (MFA) where possible.
