NEBRC SUCCESS AT THE 2025 CYBERNORTH AWARDS!

We’re absolutely thrilled to share some amazing news from this year’s CyberNorth Awards! We’re proud to announce that the NEBRC took home not one but two awards! This recognises the dedication, innovation and passion that drives everything we do at the Centre.

Our very own Head of Student Services Dr. Martin Wilson was presented with the Community Champion award, a very well deserved recognition for all of his hard work and commitment to the cyber security industry within the North East. He comments:

To be recognised by one’s peers is a truly special honour. All the nominees were worthy winners, so I’m both humbled and delighted to have received this award — it really means a lot. I’m already looking forward to returning next year to hand the baton to the next Community Champion.”

One of our very first student ethical hackers, Matthew Chambers, and a proud Northumbria University graduate, won the Rising Star Award. Since leaving the NEBRC, Matt has gone on to hold several important roles and now leads cybersecurity efforts at James Jones & Sons, a global timber firm — managing teams and significant IT security budgets to keep their systems safe..

These awards are a testament to the incredible talent, teamwork, and commitment found across the North East of England. Organised by CyberNorth as part of their annual CyberFest — two weeks of inspiring cyber-related activities — they stand as a true reflection of CyberNorth’s dedication and hard work in delivering these events year after year.

A huge congratulations as well to our partners at Aspire Technology Solutions who were recognised with the Innovation Award, and to all the outstanding nominees and winners.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a brilliant evening and to CyberNorth team for their constant support and dedication to bringing together the cyber security community in the North East! To find out more about the NEBRC visit https://www.nebrcentre.co.uk or contact [email protected].
