Safer Internet Day 7th February 2023

Today is Safer Internet Day, a global event aimed at promoting a more secure online world for everyone.

This year’s theme highlights the importance of incorporating two-step verification (2SV) – also known as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – into your cyber security practices.

2SV is an extra layer of security that requires not just a password but also a second factor, such as a code sent to your phone, to log into your online accounts, which makes it much harder for cyber criminals to breach, even if they manage to steal your password.

Last year, over 14,000 people reported that their email or social media accounts had been hacked.

If a platform offers the option to turn on 2SV, follow the instructions and set up this additional layer of security to keep your personal and financial information safe. It is one of the easiest and most effective steps you can take to protect yourself and your online accounts.
