We’re thrilled to share the outstanding feedback from our recent cybersecurity training sessions for adult social care providers. This initiative, a collaboration between the North East Business Resilience Centre (NEBRC) and NHS England, has empowered numerous small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the adult social care sector across North East England, Yorkshire and The Humber to enhance their cyber security measures.

Participants have praised the training for its practical insights and accessible delivery, enabling them to implement robust cybersecurity measures effectively. One attendee remarked:

“Sadly listening to stories of those who have suffered from the consequences of cyber-attacks including colleagues, is a reminder that it can happen to anyone. Power of information goes a long way to prevent them!”.

Another delegate praised our Head of Student Services, Martin Wilson who delivers our training sessions: “The trainer was really good – clearly knew his subject and was able to share the important stuff in an understandable and relatable way.”

The NEBRC employs ethical hacking and computer science degree students who are studying at local universities, third year student Danny Corbett also took part in delivering these training sessions and explained how this has contributed to his skills:

“Delivering cybersecurity training to adult social care organizations was a valuable experience, enhancing my ability to explain technical concepts to those with minimal prior knowledge. It improved my public speaking, confidence, and ability to engage an audience. I found it rewarding to see professionals outside the field apply the training to improve their online security. Overall, it strengthened my communication skills and ability to educate others on best practices.”

CEO of the NEBRC and retired Police Superintendent Rebecca Chapman emphasized the significance of this initiative: “This scheme is fundamental to why the NEBRC was established, to help vulnerable businesses who either cannot afford cybersecurity services or are unaware of what steps they need to take to secure their business.”

The positive reception of these training sessions underscores the critical need for tailored cybersecurity support in the social care sector. As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated, equipping providers with the necessary tools and knowledge is essential to safeguard both their operations and the vulnerable individuals they serve.

We extend our thanks to all participants and partners who have contributed to this successful initiative. Together, we are building a more resilient and secure environment for adult social care services in our region!
