Chris Murray

Chris Murray is the co-founder of Yorkshire based Bleam Cyber Security and a lead assessor for the Cyber Essentials scheme. Chris has extensive experience working across information security, including in-sourcing a large managed network security service for one of the largest banks in the UK.

Chris is both a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) and is accustomed to assisting organisations both with the implementation of strategic security governance and frameworks and also technical consulting and security assessments.

Bleam provides specialist managed security services and security consulting to SME’s throughout the UK, protecting them from cybercrime and data breaches while enabling compliance with standards such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials.

Bleam decided to join the NEBRC as they feel it is a great cause that is trying to increase the awareness of cybercrime within the UK’s SME community. SME’s are unfortunately still failing to be proactive when it comes to addressing cyber security risks.

TecSec Services provides a sophisticated level of IT Support Services, Risk Management, Disaster Recovery and Cyber Security. We support a wide range of clients nationally, with particular expertise in serving highly regulated industries.

We understand the risks inherent in businesses’ reliance on IT systems. We provide the skill to implement technical controls, governance, and training that mitigate those risks and provide independent auditing to prove that our clients understand them.

We also operate as an NCSC-endorsed certification body. Our IT Support clients can rest assured that TecSec is highly qualified and can accurately and efficiently implement and manage your IT networks.

As TecSec hold the position of Certification Body, we can not only advise and help prepare you to achieve the standards, but we will also assess your application, helping to ensure that you will pass first time.

In advance of your application, our technical experts all of whom are qualified assessors, will give you detailed reports on what controls are met, which ones aren’t, and what you need to do to meet the standards.

Prior to you applying for a Cyber Essentials assessment, we’re able to provide a report summarising all work and remediation required. As part of this report, we also point out any residual risk and recommend actions to reduce it.

Our GCHQ trained consultants have achieved Assessor Status as Cyber Advisors and in Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, & IASME Gold and we are an IASME certification body for organisations across the UK. We are continually working with our clients to maintain their IT systems, security of their network, and cyber security accreditations.

Marcus Dempsey

Marcus is an experienced security consultant who has come from a technical background and has over 25 years in the implementation and managing of networks of all shapes and sizes. Marcus set up InfoSec Governance in order to help small and medium businesses reduce their cyber risk and help them work towards a safer future.

InfoSec Governance primarily provides Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and IASME Cyber Assurance certifications to reach this goal of protecting businesses.

We decided to become involved with the NEBRC Cyber Experts Group, to further increase our ability to help businesses reduce their risk and educate users about the dangers of online activities.

As a Certification Body for Cyber Essentials & Cyber Essentials Plus, Aindale can guide your organisation with a supporting hand to navigate becoming Cyber Essentials certified. This is a great way to protect your business from cyber attacks, safeguard your reputation and secure your data whilst proving to your clients that you take cybersecurity seriously.

Aindale are an exceptional business IT Support & Service company with locations in West Yorkshire and Cumbria. We provide a range of IT Support, software and hardware solutions primarily to SMEs across the North of England and beyond.  Aindale heavily value the importance of cybersecurity for any business implementing tech in their daily practices, we believe it isn’t enough to simply seek help when security incidents arise- but rather it is far more crucial that these incidents are prevented in the first place through following guidelines for good cybersecurity practices.

Cyber Essentials is a government backed scheme which aims to help businesses protect themselves from basic cyber threats. As an accredited Cyber Essentials certification body, Aindale can help your company achieve your Cyber Essentials certification. We’ll support you the whole way through your cybersecurity journey to becoming certified.

Throughout the process we will:

  • provide a consultation in which we will assess your needs and decide what is right for you
  • audit your network and security infrastructure to identify any areas of vulnerability
  • advise you on what solutions you need to ensure that you adhere to Cyber Essentials criteria
  • provide you with a written report based on our findings
  • closely work with and support you in meeting the required criteria for your certification
  • manage the assessment and verification process for becoming Cyber Essentials and/or Cyber Essentials Plus accredited

However, the support we provide doesn’t stop once you’re certified. We will offer you a bespoke plan, giving you ongoing monitoring and protection to ensure that your security systems are doing their job to make sure you remain as cybersafe as possible following your initial certification. Also, should you need to recertify for any reason, we will be on hand whenever necessary to support you in doing so.

CyberShelter have now been running for 6 years. Cybershelter was born from the sale of a successful IT support company and specializes in IT security aimed at SME’s. We are, of course, an IASME Certifying Body for the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials plus standards and can advise and assist on all things Cyber Essentials.

Our other focus’ are with secure WiFi installations, Firewall installation and management, secure telephony installation and management and finally Data cabling installations (this includes leased line installation).

We work across all sectors but we also work with several Law firms providing IT management as a service, dedicating a few days a month to each business – more (or less) if needed.

Stewart Hogg

Stewart joined Waterstons following the completion of a physics degree at Durham University. He has a keen interest in technology and utilises the problem-solving skills gained through his degree to provide innovative solutions to complex problems. Stewart has a strong interest in Information Security, Business Continuity and IT Service Management and through several years of experience as an IT Manager has developed these areas as a specialism.

Stewart now focuses on working with clients to help them align with security and continuity frameworks such as ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 by optimising the areas of people, processes and technologies to reduce risk and deliver business value.

Dr Christopher Tait

Dr Christopher Tait has over 15 years in the IT Security industry and since opening Layer 7 IT Security in 2010, has focused on delivering specialist security services to Public Sector and their supply chain in the areas of Security Architecture, Information Assurance and penetration testing.

In recent years Chris has focused upon defensive AWS security architectures and Continuous Security Integration pipelines.

Data Connect deliver end-to-end cyber security services, including managed services, technology offerings and consultancy. Since the company was established in 2004, they have worked within the cyber security industry and have seen threats evolve dramatically. Data Connect is a trusted security partner for many organisations around the country, who vary in size and industry.

Supporting the Cyber Essentials scheme is important to Data Connect as they have seen how impactful it can be to businesses, providing them with the confidence and starting point to enhance their cyber security. As a certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme, they have helped streamline the certification process for many businesses.

Customers find Data Connect’s approach to Cyber Essentials valuable as they get support to fully understand their current security posture and what needs to be done to have strong security foundations. Data Connect offer a range of Cyber Essentials services, depending on the size and needs of the customer.

With Cyber Essentials certificates needing to be renewed every 12 months, staying compliant throughout the year will save you time and energy further down the line. Data Connect provide access to their powerful portal, the vSOC Connect Console, designed to give full visibility and control over the certification journey. All year round, customers benefit from technical workshops, questionnaire assistance, the visualisation of security gaps, a certification roadmap, accreditation updates and access to experienced Cyber Essentials assessors. This gives customers confidence in their ability to achieve and maintain the Cyber Essentials standard.

To fortify organisations’ cyber defences and ensure business resilience, we offer support across a range of cyber security accreditations. Our team delivers, Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials + and Cyber Assurance, as well as supporting businesses through the ISO27001 certification process.

As an IASME Certifying Body, we are trained to certify against GCHQ’s Cyber Essentials Scheme and manage the certification process end-to-end and in-house.

We will guide you through the process, ensuring you complete and maintain your CE accreditation to reduce your threat risk and safeguard your organisation’s security.

The Cyber Essentials certification process includes a self-assessment whereby businesses must check they meet the criteria to acquire the CE badge. We can support you with this, offering guidance on where changes can be made to achieve this certification and further auditing your business post-assessment to support you in achieving CE+.

Our CE-certified assessors mark assessments and grant CE certifications to businesses that meet the criteria and offer ongoing support to help build the best defence against the most common cyber attacks.

If your organisation holds a valid Cyber Essentials certification, we can support you in obtaining your IASME Cyber Assurance certification to protect your Information Security Management System (ISMS). Cyber Assurance focuses on the triad of confidentiality, integrity and availability, and assesses your people, processes, technology and assets, and combined with CE and CE+ provides an extra layer of strength to your defence.

Most attacks are simple by design, but the state of play is constantly evolving. As a result, threats can come in many disguises all with the same end goal; to exploit weaknesses in your infrastructure or your workforce.

These accreditations aim to safeguard your business from the most common cyber threats while ensuring the application of best practices across your IT infrastructure.

ITPS delivers intelligent technology solutions across cloud, network services, cyber security, managed services, and data and analytics, and Cyber Essentials services have formed part of our portfolio since the government launched the programme in 2014 as part of the National Cyber Strategy.

Achieving certification status saw Simon Hopkin, Head of Cyber Security at ITPS, go through a rigorous process of high level training and exams.

“Our Cyber Essentials certification body status is the stamp of quality on our ability to help organisations of all sizes and in all sectors strengthen their cyber security defences and puts us in the top tier of experts able to help organisations demonstrate their practical commitment to cyber security,” said Simon.

“The threat landscape has never been more serious, and the latest report from the National Cyber Security Centre points to prevention best practices, rather than detection, as the first area organisations should consider to minimise potential exposure to an attack.

“As a trusted supplier to organisations from large blue chip companies to SMEs and small charities, our role is to help them become more secure and protected from attack as they securely embrace digital technologies.

“Cyber Essentials is a really useful process, digging deep into organisations to help them guard against the most common cyber threats and close supply chain vulnerabilities, which are a prime target for hackers. It shows their clients and partners that they take cybersecurity seriously, and is becoming mandatory for public sector contracts particularly within the NHS, and is helping to improve the overall cyber resilience of the UK.

“Our status puts us in an elite group of cyber security experts in the UK, and allows us to offer clients a fast track, end to end service through Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.”
