How to protect your business using multi-factor authentication

Creating strong passwords and storing them safely in password managers is a good start to protecting your business and personal accounts; however, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an added layer of protection, meaning if your password is ever breached, access cannot be gained to your account as the bad guys do not have the MFA code.

MFA is a method of authentication that requires users to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to an online account, application, or other IT resource.

Introducing MFA to your business practices can prevent a wide range of cyber attacks, such as credential stuffing (where a threat actor uses a list of compromised user logins to breach a system).

You can implement strong authentication by using an MFA token: a physical ‘key’ or external hardware device that is required on top of a user’s login credentials, which can appear in the form of an external USB drive or application that generates a unique passcode that validates the user.
